The BUG-IN is an event held once a year in Southern California. No matter what your VW interest is, the BUG-IN has it all. You will find 1/4 mile drag racing, both vintage and custom car shows, and not to mention a huge swap meet and Vendor Display. Whether your a gear head, vintage freak or just all around VW nut, you will not be disappointed with what you’re bound to find at the BUG-IN. The BUG-IN was first started in 1968 at the old Orange County International Raceway in Southern California. 31 events were held over a 15 year period at the historic OCIR until the fateful day the track was closed in 1983. Over twenty years later the event made it’s return to Southern California in the Spring of 2005, continuing right where it left off with BUG-IN 32. Three short years later in 2008, BUG-IN 33 took place right back at California Speedway in Fontana, and just this past May we held BUG-IN 35. With our date already set for next year, the BUG-IN events are once again becoming a household name. Hope to see you all out at the track!
BUG-IN 36, is set for Sunday May 1, 2011

GOWESTY Campout…
Have fun camping out at Bug-In 36 and have a chance to win the “Jug”
You’ve all heard of the “Oscar”, the “Emmy”, maybe even the NHRA “Wally”. Well now there is the “Jug”. The “jug” is a well patina’d vintage picnic jug that has been hand lettered by renown VW artist, Tim Leventry. This jug is the trophy for the best campsite at the camp-out Sponsored by GOWESTY and hosted by VTO and West Coast Bays at the upcoming Bug-In 36, May 1st at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana. Open to all VW based camping vehicles only, (no big RVs or trailers) participants may camp Saturday night at the raceway in a special designated area. The event will be similar to the vintage trailer shows. Participants are encouraged to bring items such as old bicycles, surfboards, and vintage camping equipment to decorate their “camp site”. On Sunday awards will given out for Best Splitie Westy, Best Splitie non-Westy, Best Bay Westy, Best Bay non-Westy, Best Vanagon, Eurovan etc. There will be special awards for things like “best use of Coleman” and “best surf theme”. The Saturday night campout will be free with your Sunday admission. For further information and pre-registration, contact Rich Kimball, Periscope Enterprises rich@bugin.com
