Rockstar Deegan does two podiums at Glen Helen Brawl

deegan2 No doubt Brian Deegan is a huge crowd favorite and for good reason. His “in your face” winner takes all attitude and exceptional history as formidable force in MotoCross, Rally Competition, Boxing and numerous other intense, adrenalin driven action sports really lights a fire among spectators wherever he competes. He’s good for the sport, good for the industry and a gas to watch as he shreds his way to the front in hair raising fashion. We at Rancho are proud that our race proven record for performance and reliability has put us on board with Deegan in his blistering hot Rockstar Energy/Makita Ford.

And did I mention is exceptional skill and winning ways in everything he sets his sights on? A recent dual podium visit at the Lucas Off Road Series in Glen Helen, California was just one more example of Team Deegan’s mounting success. At that highly anticipated race and after a rain out on Saturday, round 9 of the Lucas Off Road series was back on track Sunday. Pro 4 Unlimited turned into a knock down drag out affair that proved one of the most exciting of the season. In familiar fashion, points leader Kyle LeDuc led the way at the end of the opening lap in his #99 Monster Energy/Toyo Tires Ford. Bryce Menzies ran in second, with Rob MacCachren third, Carl Renezeder fourth, and Greg Adler fifth. By lap three, LeDuc had already moved convincingly clear of his competition. After a short yellow the front 5 runners bunched up with Brian Deegan coming on strong. On lap eight, MacCachren, Fortin, Renezeder and Deegan got by Menzies. After a full course yellow on lap10 and when racing resumed with LeDuc, MacCachren, Fortin, Deegan and Renezeder making up the top five. Deegan got by Fortin on the inside at turn and continued to move forward. He blasted past MacCachren coming into turn three on lap 15. On lap 16, Fortin suddenly stalled and Deegan closed in quickly on LeDuc. Unfortunately time ran out and Deegan, after posting fast lap, had to settle for second.Deegan12

Pro 2 closed out the action in round nine, and in this one Bryce Menzies who shot out to the early lead in his #7 Red Bull/KMC Wheels Ford, ahead of Rob MacCachren, Rodrigo Ampudia, Carl Renezeder, and Brian Deegan. Menzies’ lead was short-lived and MacCachren assumed the lead in his #21 Rockstar Energy/Makita Ford. Ampudia slowed coming out of turn three and headed for the pits. As the field completed the lap, MacCachren still led the way, but it was now Renezeder running second with Deegan on his mud flaps in 3rd. By lap seven, Deegan was really hounding Renezeder for second, and on the following lap, Creed got by Clark to take over fourth spot. A few corners later, RJ Anderson then passed Clark for fifth spot, and both he and Clark then moved up to fourth and fifth, respectively, when Creed hit the Hot Pits to change a flat rear tire on lap ten. On the next lap, Renezeder suddenly closed right in on MacCachren, who may have been settling into a pace that was a touch too comfortable. Whatever the reason, MacCachren upped the pace accordingly, and held off Renezeder’s charge to pick up the win. Renezeder finished up in second, while Deegan scored his 2nd podium of the day finishing 3rd.

At age 17, outfitted with only a credit card, a dirt bike, and an old truck, Brian left his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska for Southern California with dreams of becoming the next big name in motocross. Brian’s skills quickly impressed everyone he encountered, and he soon rode his way onto a SuperCross Team.

DP3C1682In a pivotal moment in 1997 at the Coliseum in LA, Brian made history and pioneered what is known today as Freestyle Motocross by “ghost riding” his bike across the finish line – astonishing the crowd, stunning the AMA officials, and setting into motion a new breed of competition.

Today, Brian is the most decorated Freestyle Motocross rider in the competition’s history with 13 X-Games medals to his name, including X Games 17 Gold medal in Rally Cross. He also holds the elite distinction of being the only rider to compete in every X Games competition since the games’ inception. In the last year, Brian has dominated the off-road trucking world, taking both Lucas Oil Pro 2 Unlimited and Pro Lite Unlimited Championships, being named Lucas Oil Rookie of the Year in Pro 2 Unlimited, and taking home the 2011 Lucas Oil Driver of the Year (which he also won in 2010).

BrianBoxingBrian currently competes in Motocross, Freestyle Motocross, Rally Car, and Short Course Trucks as founder and owner of the Metal Mulisha.

Brian’s road to the top has not been without challenge. His career is marked by multiple near-death experiences, several broken bones, a lost kidney, and a severe spleen injury. In the end, it has been Brian’s fearlessness and rebel attitude that has established him as one of the top talents and competitors in the sport.
