10 Nov Big Island Bandits
Hawaii is a serious hot bed for import drag racing activity. Organized by Chris Mantz and Alan Martin, the Big Island Hot Rod Association promotes a series of events that run year round. Rancho and LAT Racing Lubricants are heavily involved in sponsoring these growing events and thought you’d like a closer look. We have included a collection of images from the most recent Import Kings Championship event held at Hilo DragStrip as well as a few from other races held earlier this year.
At this year’s Championship Chris Mantz in his immaculate Rancho/LAT sponsored Stray-Kat Motorsports buggy trounced the competition taking Super Streeet honors. Mantz ran a quick 10.53 at 126 MPH. Top honors in the hotly contested Outlaw class went to Danny Namihira running a 10.38 at 127. The current record holder in this popular class is James Kamanu who recently drove his awesome turbo Honda to a 9.67 at 151!
If you’re planning a vacation to Hawaii make sure you check the BIHRA event schedule and plan accordingly.
