26 Apr Barron Lights it up While Leading Elsinore
Hey if you’re gonna take on the big dogs in the Lucas Off Road Series you’d better bring it all and be ready to take a couple lumps along the way. Well Eric Barron has absolutely no problem with lumps and has spent the last couple of seasons giving all he has and more. As a result he is now one of those Big Dogs and a major spectator draw to the series. Here at LAT Racing Oils and Rancho Performance Drivetrains we are honored to be part of the Barron program and excited about being involved with the exciting Lucas Series.
That said Friday night at Elsinore was one of THOSE races!. You know, one of those where it was exciting at the time but after looking over your race truck at the end of the night you think you might have been better off calling in sick and sitting at home watching it on TV with a brewski and pizza.
In the much anticipated Pro 4 battle on Friday night Eric launched hard bringing the crowd to their feet while taking and holding the lead through lap 10 with Leduc, Adler and McCachen all over his butt. Crossing the finish line on their 11th lap, Barron came too close to the dirt barrier clipping it, causing it to put the truck into the air landing on driver side door and due to the high speed it put Barrons truck into a violent snap roll. After 6 complete rolls and about 200′ of distance the truck finally came to a stop on all fours, but as soon as it landed the engine compartment caught on fire. What was a small fire at first immediately turned into a raging blaze fueled by gasoline coming from the fuel pump. The Lucas Oil Safety Team got Barron out of the truck before he suffered any burns, but because of the nature of the fire it took a while to get it extinguished. Barron was up and awake but was taken to the hospital to be further checked out as he was banged up pretty good and may of lost consciousness.
When the track got cleared and the race restarted the new leader Kyle Leduc took charge and brought home another win to add to his points total. Rob MacCachren took second an Greg Adler rounded out the top three.
I am a big fan of Lucas Oil Off-road racing and watch a lot of events on tv, tonight was insane.. 5 races, insane battles throughout. Brian Deegan won pro 2, Bradley Morris won pro lite, Kyle Leduc won pro 4…
There is little doubt this was some of the best short course trophy truck racing ever and as usual Eric was right in the middle of it. Our best wished to a quick recovery and return to the battle. Rancho and LAT tip a hat applaud each and every one of the teams and drives in all classes for an amazing night of competition.
