The Greater Kokomo Downtown Association, Center Township of Howard County and The City of Firsts Volkswagen Club will be celebrating Kokomo’s 8th Annual Roger S. Wright Memorial – Oktoberfest Volkswagen Cruise-In. This is a “FREE” event held downtown Kokomo around the Courthouse Square on Friday night September 28th, 2012.
Friday, September 28th
The downtown streets will be closed for this event between the hours of 4:00 PM and 10:00 PM to allow Volkswagen enthusiasts to take ownership of the downtown area. This event starts at 4:00 PM – However, if you want a good spot, you will need to come early because – WE WILL FILL THE STREETS – Last year we had record attendance with 140 plus cars participating from six different states and 1 Providence of Canada! We want you to be our guest of honor and we will have goody bags and unbelievable door prizes for our participants. So, what more can you ask for! – Volkswagens, Volkswagen Parts, Volkswagen Merchandise, German Food, Live German Music, and an incredible evening in Kokomo, IN.
Saturday, September 29th
Join us for the – “Competition Autobody Indy 500 Experience” We will be visiting the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway and have the track to ourselves! Thanks to Competition Autobody Kokomo, Indiana, Volkswagen owners will have an opportunity of a lifetime! Join the elite groups who have taken a lap around this historic landmark where legends like A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti, Al and Bobby Unser have made history. The “Competition Autobody Indy 500 Experience” will be a history making experience and an opportunity you will not want to miss.
We will leave from the Marriot at 9:00 AM and cruise to Indianapolis and stop at Buggy Works for a reception and we will cruise to IMS for our scheduled 12:00 Noon event. Just imagine, – Volkswagens cruising the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with pictures at the “Yard of Bricks” along with other spectacular photo opportunities with the Pagoda and IMS Museum. But, wait there is more; we will have lunch at the historical “Brickyard Crossing Restaurant”. It will be a great day and one you will remember for a lifetime. BONUS OPPORTUNITIES!! For your enjoyment 2 Festivals are happening the same weekend as Oktoberfest. Within 25 miles of traveling time you can attend “The James Dean Festival” held in Fairmount, IN or the “Gas City Ducktail Run” held in Gas City, IN. Kokomo is conveniently located near these events. A “Hot Rod” weekend doesn’t get any better than this!
Sunday, September 30th
We will meet at the Courtyard at the Marriot for breakfast in a private dining area. This will give us an opportunity to say “good bye” to our special guest and some of the finest people on the planet. Come enjoy live German music, German food and German cars! So, you need to put on your danc’n shoes and get ready to Polka like you have never Polka’d before! The Oktoberfest Volkswagen Cruise-In is quickly becoming a “must attend event” and we are expecting this year to be “Off the Hook” with The James Dean Festival, Gas City Ducktail Run, and the Competition Autobody Indy 500 Experience all in the same weekend. So, you will have a variety of activities to choose from whether it is, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Volkswagens, Hot Rods or Custom Cars it will be an experience that you will never forget.
