07 Apr HOT NEWS from HOT VWS
Wanted to share a letter we received last week from Shin Watanabe, the new editor of Hot VWs, regarding the status of HOT VWs magazine. We had to sit on it until they posted their official news letter. Now that’s out I thought you’d like to here it directly from the horse’s mouth, so to speak.
Shin has been covering VW events for publications for what seems like decades and his knowledge of and involvement in or sport not to mention his magnetic personality and awesome photographic skills are certainly going to benefit the restructured publication. Don’t think they could have chosen a better fit for the position of Editor. Our best wishes to him and the magazine we’ve all enjoyed for decades.
“Hi Sam and Bob! First and foremost, thank you for your continued support of Hot VWs Magazine. You may or may not be aware that Hot VWs is celebrating 50 years of publication this year! With that said, I am very proud and happy to announce that Hot VWs Magazine will continue to be published! This announcement marks the beginning of a new journey and exciting NEW era of Hot VWs Magazine, with you! Beginning with our May 2017 issue, Hot VWs Magazine is under new ownership and operated by the TOA Corporation, d.b.a. OCI Media, and owned by Shin Mukai.
Shin Mukai is truly dedicated and has been committed to the VW industry for more than 30 years both in the U.S. and Japan. Shin Mukai is also widely known as a VW drag racer and an extreme Type 3 fanatic. I am the new Editor of Hot VWs Magazine and I have been involved with both the VW and magazine industries for many years including as a contributor for Hot VWs Magazine prior to the new ownership.
Based in Southern California, I have been part of a Japanese VW magazine for over 20 years and I continue to follow the VW scene throughout the world. To be honest, I never expected to become the editor of Hot VWs Magazine one day. I have always enjoyed simply being a reader of Hot VWs. This new opportunity is very exciting for me and it is our goal and mission to ensure that the Hot VWs name lives on forever. It is an exciting time for Hot VWs Magazine and I look forward to another 50 years of Volkswagen and the awesome VW community that keeps the hobby and passion alive!”
